Welcome to the NPSS Technology Department. At NPSS, our technology staff strive to provide the best possible opportunities for students to develop and enhance their knowledge, problem-solving skills, and to provide hands-on-experiences needed to succeed in the technological work place, as well as prepare them to enter into university/college programs, and apprenticeships. Careers in the trades are currently in demand, and according to Stats Canada, the top 5 skilled trades that are suffering from lack of enrollment include; carpentry, general contractor, plumber, electrician, and HVAC technician.
“Notwithstanding economists’ claims, employer groups continue to persevere with their opinion that there is, indeed, a skills shortage. At a general level, the Canadian Federation of Independent Business (CFIB, 2000), an association of small and medium-sized businesses, found in a recent survey that “about 1 in every 20 jobs remain unfilled. Respondents cited the inability to find suitable skilled labour as a major barrier”.” (The Conference Board of Canada)
We invite you to explore the various technology disciplines that are currently offered at NPSS. The tech programs are informative, activity-based, and project driven.
